Napping Transit Worker.

@OGLE_Toronto was expressing their opinion on the situtation by adding proof. If I was the napping worker, I would personally not want a picture of me sleeping on a world wide social network. There’s more reasonable ways to express your feelings though, like @OGLE_Toronto could have gone up to the manager and told them to keep it more private.
But like really, if you don’t like the prices they have and the way they work. Then go don’t ride with TTC.
Lisa Leslie is my Idol.
Ever heard of the WNBA ? What about LA sparks? Do you have any idea who Lisa Leslie is ? To be honest, I had no idea what the WNBA was nor did I know who Lisa Leslie . I figured out that WNBA stands for Women’s National Basketball Association. Most people would guess its that because there’s the word “NBA” in it. Usually everybody would favour the NBA over the WNBA because they can do cool tricks and slam dunks. Well, I’m here to prove that wrong, because in this essay I’m going to be talking about Lisa Leslie. Lisa Leslie in the first women ever to do a slam dunk during a game. If you ask me, that’s pretty amazing! She proves that boys aren’t the only ones who can slam a ball into a net, she shows that you can never give up in a game, just because you think you can’t do it and she inspires women of all ages to never let something in the way of something you really want to achieve or keep and to stay fit and active.
Lisa Leslie encourages an active lifestyle and healthy life. Lisa is someone to look up to, she plays the game to it’s limit and never goes past it, and doesn’t abuse her career and health by using drugs such as steroids. Lisa Leslie shows that just because you have “other stuff ” going on in your life doesn’t mean you give up something for you and focus on one thing. For example, Lisa Leslie got pregnant but she didn’t lose focus on being fit and she still maintained her active lifestyle. She still stayed strong and tried her hardest.
If the game is down 54-23, Lisa Leslie will play her hardest throughout the whole game and she doesn’t give up her game. Lisa could have given up on her game against Russia in the Olympics a few years ago for the Women’s Basketball Finals but she didn’t She continued to play her hardest and ended up scoring the winning basket, helping the USA gain yet again another gold medal in Women’s Basketball for several years in a row. What she does is outstanding. It’s pretty hard to continue playing when you just got hit in the face while trying to get a rebound or just got tripped while spiriting down the court. Trust me. It’s overwhelming and frustrating when you don’t get possession of the ball. A lot of the men in the NBA, get so mad over little things and they just give up and walk to their change room. While on the other hand, Lisa Leslie will just get up and shake it off which is more manly than most basketball players in the NBA.
A lot of people may think that basketball is a “boy sport” because some girls are afraid of balls but, Lisa prove them wrong. I play competitive and when they say “competitive”they really do mean competitive. We get tripped, pushed, shoved, and punched. I could imagine that professional basketball is 3x worse. Which is pretty for girls to get used to. Lisa opened people’s eyes to finally realize that girls can do slam dunks. Which is an inspiration to me because I didn’t make competitive at first and their invitation is like a second chance to prove them that they made the right choice.
Lisa Leslie is retired but there are many women who are following the steps of Lisa. So, you should watch a game or the skills competition to see what us girls got !

Secret Life of Bees -Reading Response 2
Prediction :
I believe that later on in the book Lily will tell the truth about her past because she is getting alot closer with the Boatwright Sisters and she is sort of noticing things that her mom did that the Boatwright’s do and it seems like Lily is getting curious. Plus, you can’t keep quiet forever.
I think that Lily wil ask or speak about her mother and it will likely upset May. I predict this because May seems more appoarchable than June and August. Lily will choose May before August because May wouldn’t really catch on to what Lily is trying to get at but with August she already knew something was fishy from the get go. Im noticing that May is alot more trustworthy with emotional secrets because if she tried to spill the secret it would be hard because she will end up going to the wailing wall.
Rosaleen and Lily will end up staying with the Boatwright sisters. At this point of the story everyone is getting close and Lily and Rosaleen are helping the sister greatly. Aspecially, Rosaleen. Rosaleen has become extremely close with May and if Rosaleen left May would be really really sad and I’m sure August and June would do anything to avoid her going into that state.
Connection (Text to Self)
When Lily and June were having a waterfight and Lily quoted “, but I wouldn’t let go . I would not let June Boatwright win”.
I can relate to this because whenever I have argue with my brother or my friend I usually always want to have the last word. I think that me and Lily do this because we want the person to realize that they should give up. In the end everything goes fine.
New Understanding
Lady of Chains or the Black Madonna has a deeper meaning. To the Calendar sisters it symbolizes breaking free from chains and slavery. For Lily, I think it has it’s own meaning. When Lily went to go and touch Lady of Chains heart but she couldnt. I believe that represents the thousands of times Lily wanted to touch her mother’s heart but couldnt. Only if she could touch the Lady of Chains heart she could break free from all the pain from the death of her mother.
TWLOHA Day
http://www.twloha.com/index.php
To Write Love on Her Arms is a movement towards hope to find help for people who deal with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide.
I wanted to share this because today is TWLOHA day and to participate all you have to do is write love on your arm.
I also wanted to post this because I heard about a woman who jumped off a bridge on to Queens ways and it’s a problem that is very common around the world and we need to help prevent it.
Secret Life of Bees – Reading Response 1
This is when I was at chapter 5.
Inferring:
I was inferring, and I was noticing the part about the bees in the container. I think that the bees in the container basically symbolize what Lily is going through. T. Ray is locking up, Lily leaving her limited to what she can do. Just like the bees Lily caught with the container they were very limited to where they can go and do that . In one part of the story Lily decides to open the container and let the bees escape, but the bees stay there and they don’t fly away like a normal bee would. I think that that represents how Lily is scared to leave and run away from T. Ray because she may fear that she could get caught again or hurt.
E1 :
I firmly believe that Rosaleen shouldn`t have been arrested. I think that because she was basically standing up for herself, in a way it was sort of dumb but I`m sure if the dealer had done it Rosaleen wouldn`t have freaked out and started beating the man. The only reason why no one did anything about Rosaleen getting beaten up is because at those time I`m pretty sure civil rights weren`t put up yet and that`s why Rosaleen was going over to vote.
Connections ( text to text ) :
I remember watching this moving and it was about black people`s right and it was about like voting and politics. But I forget the name. It reminds me of this story so much because there`s a part when a black man gets beat by a white man. One of the men was killed because of the police encouraging the fight.
Where I’m from
I am from the Christmas Eve’s that gathered my family together with chants of laughter and a festive feast.
I am from the squeaky swing in the yard, the fragrance of flowers to vivid red tomatoes and snow structures built out front.
I’m from “do you homework” to “go outside” and my brother’s whines.
I am from the clatters and clangs of a basketball bouncing off the court, to a soccer ball racing across the trimmed grass and everlasting sleepovers.
I am from the slide shows that never stop playing to all the scrapbooks with unlimited pages.
